War
“I wrote this for the war years ago thinking it a temporary poem inspired for a moment in time but I was amiss. War seems to be always present. I cannot recall a time in my lifetime when there wasn’t some kind of armed conflict in session on the earth. We were and remain divided by whatever reason we find the collective will to believe. Included is a performance of War by Pruitt Igoe live at Winston’s.”

WAR
We went looking
We always go looking
Is it destiny
That we find it
War is on
War is on terror
Terror is on
Terror is always on
Terror has always been on for somebody
Somewhere a want is felt
A lust enraged
War is terror
Life is terror
War is anti-life
No life no war
This makes no sense
But plenty of money
We went looking
We went looking for money
Money the seed of whomever plants it
What do we plant
What grows here
Terror is on
Who tends the fields
War is on
A harvest of desire
More is the measure
A real man takes what he wants
War is terror
Somewhere someone is terrorizing
Somewhere someone has always been terrorized
We went looking
We went looking for more money
Is the war on
Is the war on terror
When did it start
When will it end
Does terror ever end
Does war ever end
Terror is anti-money
War is fed by money
Terror must end so war is fed
War on terror
War for the right to make money
War for the right to plant the seed
War for more
War is on war
We went looking
It found us
We all knew one day it would
Level the field
Mine the field
One match it burns
A warming fire of warning
We all seek the dream
Not the same dream
But the same
To live
Don’t we all want to live
But maybe not
