As a singer-songwriter, storyteller, and writer of prose and poetry, Wendy combines the variety of modes available to her into a larger, intertextual, multilayered framework. She explores in-depth many aspects of the human struggle–including identity, love, loss, and grief–especially through the lens of mental health and often related to her own experiences. Her B.A. in English and Italian Literature, Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and professional background in speech-language pathology all reflect in Wendy’s interest in perception, language, and emotional experiences as they relate to neurodiversity and creative expression. She uses her performance art as a vehicle for addressing stigma-related bias and misconception, and to advocate for greater humanity awareness. Wendy’s poetry has been set to music composed by the Jannotta-Klentze Project for jazz sextet and voice. She is a recipient of a Synergy Arts Foundation grant.
Open mic follows.
