A note from Lauren:

Welp, it’s been almost half a year since I published my first poetry book with @puna_press here in San Diego. We had a huge list of events + parties mapped out for 2020. Of course, we didn’t get to hold a lot of those community events… So to celebrate the release of my poetry book, I am inviting you to join me and some amazing writers on Zoom on December 12th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. PST.

I want to take a min to introduce these incredible souls who have each shaped my life for the better.

@marisa_crane – Marisa inspired me to publish. She was with me the night I met my publisher at an open mic. She edited many of the poems inside the book, and listened to many of the stories I write about… over stiff drinks and free popcorn at Lucy’s in OB. We’ve worked together, started a biz together, traveled to Mexico and even discovered our love for Aperol in Croatia together.

@mitzyypie – Marissa is one of my sister’s best friends. I met her in SD and almost every time I’ve seen her she’s wearing something fab, smiling, covered in sequins, with roller skates on. She’s so full of life and wise. After experiencing loss, she told me about her poetry. Much of what she writes is inspired by her mother and the ocean. I can’t wait to hear her debut.

@musclesinmakeup – Cassie is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We used to ride the bus together and I have watched her grow into such a strong powerful mother and self-love advocate. I asked her to share her writing during the book release because whenever I read her writing I can’t help but feel inspired.

@form.and.flow – Kate and I connected at Mesa climbing gym in San Diego. Kate would take breaks to climb with me because I never had a partner! Our friendship blossomed, and she inspired me with her vision for form + flow. I even modeled nude for one of her events! I’ve surfed alongside her (such a badass surfer chick), we got very close to buying a yoga studio together, and her writing always blows me away. She is thoughtful and eloquent and extremely talented.
