Itza Vilaboy is a writer from San Diego. Recent projects include co-curating “Border Blasters: Desintegrador de Fronteras TJ/SD Radio & Television” a binational exhibition at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center and Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura (Tijuana) and working as a language and library consultant for TEXT/TILE, a text-based artwork in the form of an immersive tile installation by Janelle Iglesias constructed onsite at the SDPL Pacific Highlands Ranch Library. She has a weekly radio program called CARTAS EK-STATIKAS on KNSJ 89.1 FM where she selects vinyl and invites artists, writers, and musicians to join in and play records and chat. Her writing has appeared in AZTLAN: A Journal of Chicano Studies, Poet-Librarians in the Library of Babel: Innovative Meditations on Librarianship, and other art and literary publications, including a chapter in Borders & Belonging: Critical examinations of LIS approaches toward immigrants. She is currently finishing her novel, Diamond Girls, translating three books by Rafa Saavedra, and working on a cookbook for her family. She collects books, too.
