Bone Lyre by Ted Washington Now Available!
In January I was contemplating whether or not to publish a book of my own poetry. Puna Press had nothing on the 2023 calendar so I thought why not me.
It has been twelve years since my last published book and even longer since a book with poetry as the focus. Bone Lyre comprises many unpublished works, most of the poems performed in Pruitt Igoe and a chapter of my favorite poetic form, Haiku. Included is the poem “One Thousand Years”. This is my Barbie poem. It’s not really a poem about Barbie it’s about Brad.
“What I appreciate about Ted Washington’s Bone Lyre is the universal themes. Love poems like “Lauren” put tears in my eyes with captivating words and rhythm. Haikus featuring nature and politics both eased and upset me with their truths. The Pruitt Igoe section composed lyrics and poems that I found to be wily and brazen, filled with comical expressions and relatable thoughts. Bone Lyre is an emotional read.”
