Andrew “Drew” Elorza Features at Palabra!
PALABRA
an evening of poetry
Guest host for the evening is Lizzie Wann
Andrew Elorza “Drew” will this weeks featured reader. Drew has never had to write an artist bio before because he has never fancied himself an artist. He was published in The Russian Times once, but that was only because his teacher in Prague had the hookup. He studied Fiction Writing in Chicago for 3 years, but moreso he got high, danced, rapped and traveled the city. He managed an office once. He’s been in love a few times. He writes poems and raps and stories…but now he’s just floating around San Diego looking to create smiles through chagrin and try to impose himself onto the spoken word scene. You can find him climbing walls, figuring out how to make strangers laugh, and embarrassing himself in front of crowds. Maybe he’ll have a book one day. Maybe he’ll compose a piano sonata to accompany it. Oh, he’s gonna be a feature at some storytelling event in the next few months. No details yet…but that’s something, right?
After Drew’s reading we will have an open mic for anyone who wants to read. Everyone is welcome to come and share a poem, song lyrics, reading or a short story or just bring your ears for listening and enjoy the evening. Original poetry is always appreciated. Everyone needs some place to speak their minds and Palabra is that place. We are an inclusive and supportive group that aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, positive environment, so all talent levels are welcome.
Doors open at 6:30pm and Poetry starts at 7:00pm sharp! We will have a sign-up sheet available at the counter. Each poet will speak for 3-5 minutes each so that everyone who wants to read can have a chance! Palabra poetry night will be every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
